Comedian, Dean Obeidallah is an American comedian of Palestinian-Italian descent. He is the host of SiriusXM radio’s The Dean Obeidallah Show, which is the only daily national radio show hosted by a Muslim American. Born in the Great State of New Jersey, Dean’s comedy comes in large part from his unique background of being the son of a Palestinian father and a Sicilian mother. Dean, an award winning comedian who was at one time a practicing attorney, co-starred on Comedy Central’s “The Axis of Evil” Comedy TV special. Click here for more on Dean Obeidallah!
SAMS member, Dr. Samer Attar is an Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Northwestern University in Chicago and Lurie Children’s Hospital. He has completed multiple surgical missions with SAMS; most notably working with the Aleppo City Medical Council in underground hospitals INSIDE Aleppo, Syria. (Maybe he can tell Johnson where that is). Dr. Attar also served with Doctors without Borders on multiple surgical missions in Ramtha, Jordan. Recently he represented SAMS at the United Nations in addressing the current humanitarian crisis in Aleppo.
SAMS Society board secretary, Dr. Lina Murad is a graduate of Damascus University. She is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology from Georgetown and George Washington University and has been working as an Interventional Nephrologist for the past 9 years. She has been active on medical missions with SAMS, attending 4 missions to Turkey and Syria over the last 2 years, most recently in February 2017, and is involved in developing educational courses in the SAMS Nephrology Department. She has co-authored multiple articles regarding nephrology medical care during the Syrian Crisis, which have been published in Kidney International and the Lancet, among other medical journals.
