Gay People Princeton Documentary Film Premiere

December 13, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Filmmaker & early member of the Gay Alliance of Princeton Frank Mahood, with Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice and Historical Society of Princeton, will premiere a moving documentary tracing the remarkable history of Gay People Princeton, the community’s first gay rights organization.

Founded in 1972 by undergraduates, the Gay Alliance of Princeton gathered together Princeton University students, workers & faculty, local townsfolk, and greater community members to come out and declare their identity. After two years, Gay People Princeton, a separate organization for the community, emerged out of it, forging a way for the future.

This film spotlights the new, multifaceted archive at BRCSJ devoted to the history of Gay People Princeton to ensure the history is never forgotten.

On Friday, December 13, please come to meet and learn about these trailblazers, many of whom will travel from far and wide to acknowledge their role in the gay rights movement. Join us to connect the lessons of the past to the issues that inform our future.
