After the loss of federal protections for transgender students under the new administration, our NJ legislators are working to support transgender students and transgender patients at the state level. Sometime AFTER 1 PM TODAY, the NJ Assembly will vote on 4 supportive bills:

  • A4567– which establishes a Transgender Equality Task Force
  • A4568 — which prohibits health insurers and Medicaid from discriminating against transgender patients
  • AJR139 — which designates a Transgender Awareness Week
  • AJR140 — which designates a Transgender Day of Remembrance

Thank you to Assemblymembers Valerie Vainieri Huttle (LD37), Tim Eustace (LD38), Nancy Pinkin (LD18), Mila Jasey (LD27), and John Wisniewski (LD19) for sponsoring all of these bills, and John Burzichelli (LD3) for sponsoring A4568! If they are your assemblymembers, please call them to say thank you!
