In March, amid growing concerns over the president’s potential conflicts of interest, our state legislature passed a bill, (S3048/A4520) that would require presidential candidates to release their tax returns before their name could appear on ballots in New Jersey. Earlier this month, Gov. Christie vetoed the bill.

If presidential transparency is still important to you, what can you do? Two things:

  • Call or email state Senate President Steve Sweeney and state Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and urge them to bring a veto override of S3048/A4520 up for a vote in the state legislature.
  • Call or write to your three state legislators and let them know you want presidential candidates to release their tax returns! Urge them to support an override of Christie’s veto of S3048/A4520.
